Another day, another injury

AUTHOR: Andrew Corselli | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Apparently, Ahmad Bradshaw showed up at practice Wednesday with a boot on his right foot to protect his ankle and foot sprains.
According to Bradshaw, it was “an old college injury”. SUNUVABICH. Can things get any worse for Big Blue? I know they have a couple of “easy” games the next two weeks with the Queefs and Raiders, but after that the next four games are nightmares: @ New Orleans; home against the Cards; @ Philly; home against the Chargers. We’re going to find out real quick what this team is made of.
Good teams persevere in times like this but with [...]

G-Men on a roll

AUTHOR: Andrew Corselli | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Giants looked good in their 24-0 win on Sunday against the Bucs. I hope it’s because they are that good and not just because they were playing the Bucs.
The running backs were having their way with the TB defense and Eli looked solid, though he didn’t have to be as the running game was so on-point. But with that much time in the pocket it’s hard not to be legit. Plus, I can’t say enough about the play of the O-Line. They played well and did their job.
Bradshaw looked like a champ and Jacobs was pretty good, but still [...]

The Giants looked good in the first quarter. Eli was nice and the RBs were running through the D. Keep it up G-Men!!!!

You heard it here first

The Lions break the streak tomorrow (later today) with a win over the Redskins, 20-12. Washington fails to score a TD for the second consecutive week and the Lions snap that ugly 19-game slide. Stafford and Co. will relieve the people of Detroit that they haven’t won a game in over two Christmases.

Also: G-Men 28, Schmucs 10
Eli breaks the 300-yard plateau and tosses three TDs; Jacobs gains about 70 yards and Bradshaw eclipses the century mark with a score. Manningham racks up 150 and a pair of TDs, while (the real) Steve Smith adds 130 and a touch.
The defense holds up without Tuck, but TB gets a couple of late scores [...]

Kenny Phillips out for year

AUTHOR: Andrew Corselli | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

Safety Kenny Phillips will miss the rest of the year with arthritis in his left knee. That sucks. Phillips was having a good year (I know it’s only two games in) and looked like a Pro Bowl-esque d-back.
In light of this, the G-Men picked up safety Aaron Rouse off waivers from the Pack and CC Brown is expected to move into the starting role. Hey, it won’t be the first time a CC is thrust into the starting role for a New York team this season.
Tuck (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay and hasn’t practiced [...]

Plax heading up the river

AUTHOR: Andrew Corselli | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Plaxico Burress was sentenced today to two years in prison. I get the fact that he broke the law by carrying an unlicensed weapon in NY, but he wasn’t going to hurt anyone. The gun was for protection, he only shot himself. Conversely, Donte Stallworth KILLED a guy while operating a car under the influence of alcohol. Donte only served 24 days of a 30-day sentence. Think about it: shoot yourself in the leg and you go to jail for two years; kill a 59-year-old guy at 7 am after a night of boozing and you get a little over [...]

G-Men lucky to get a win

AUTHOR: Andrew Corselli | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Wow, that was a close one. 33-31. I didn’t think the G-Men would pull it out, but that last drive was spectacular. The NY defense was atrocious all night, allowing 251 rushing yards and letting Barber do whatever he wanted. The offense wasn’t much better, but a win is a win.
I don’t have much else to say, so here are some random thoughts from the Giants game, as well as, from elsewhere around the NFC East:

Did Jacobs just have a contract year last season? Nah, that would never happen in professional sports.
The secondary was Bush League at best; Kenny Phillips [...]

Prediction for Sunday

AUTHOR: Andrew Corselli | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

G-Men 27, Cowgirls 21
The Giants looked nice against the ‘Skins last Sunday and I think they carry that over to this Sunday. Dallas, it seemed, had trouble disposing of a bush-league Bucs squad last week before they pulled away in the second half.
Eli will keep his stellar play into the second week, throwing for about 235 yards and a pair of scores. The running game will get back on track, as Jacobs tallies around 90 yards and Bradshaw will break the century mark to go with a TD. Manningham will show up and notch about 130 yards and grab both [...]

G-Men making moves

AUTHOR: Andrew Corselli | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

Hakeem Nicks (leg) and Danny Ware (elbow) will be out at least two weeks with their respective injuries, but the good news is Nicks was said to have not suffered a Lisfranc injury and an MRI revealed no damage to the joint.
In other news, LB Michael Boley was reinstated from the reserve/suspended list on Tuesday and RB Gartrell Johnson was claimed off waivers from San Diego. NY also released OL Tutan Reyes and waived DL Leger Douzable.
Big Blue also made some changes to their practice squad, signing TE Bear Pascoe and DB Michael Coe; terminating the contracts of CB DeAndre [...]
