A Giant Tuesday for Us All

facebooktwitterreddit

Good morning, happy Tuesday (is it Friday yet?) to you all!

Cheaters never win.  Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing, part of the trio of USC linebackers taken in the first two rounds of the 2009 draft, winner of the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, and 2nd team All Pro, is drowning in a sea of steroid suspicion this morning.  Cushing tested positive for a PED (Adam Schefter from ESPN is reporting (by reporting I mean tweeting) that Cushing tested positive for the same masking agent as Manny Ramirez (of the LA Dodgers).

Cushing has been suspended for the first four games of the 2010 season, why do we care?  First, The Giants have a nice little meeting scheduled with the Houston Texans in Week 5, which happens to be the first week Cushing is eligible to return to practice and play in a game.  Second, Cushing is a New Jersey native, so, yes, we are disappointed.  Worse yet, the Associated Press is in process of re-voting for the Defensive Rookie of the Year and my guess is the voters may frown on Cushing’s PED suspension and take that award away.  Well, cheaters never win.

When we talk about Giants 2nd year tackle William Beatty getting a bit stronger and bigger, this is not what we mean nor what we hope for.  Hopefully, Beatty is doing it the right way, by consuming way too many calories and spending way too much time in the weight room, not by taking PED(s).  Cushing’s positive test also puts him in unique company with Shawn Merriman and Julius Peppers, former Defensive Rookie of the Year winners who also tested positive for a PED and were suspended.  Nice fellas, real nice.

Stay Clean, and Saty Blue!
