Good morning to you all! A Happy mid-week Wednesday is upon us. For those of you who could not tune in last evening, we appeared on the internet radio show “The Sports Docket,” a popular sports show that covers NY sports on Blog Talk Radio. Click on Episode 59 and you can listen to the entire program where we talk Giants draft, Giant expectations, and what we can expect out JPP, Linval Joseph, and the rest of the Giant 2010 draft class. It was a good time, and we just want to thank Mr. Ethan Kwassman for having us on.
Today brings us up close and personal with the Giants/Jets Superbowl Bid, the New Meadowlands is in consideration to host the Superbowl in 2014 (on a side note, I am glad the Superbowl Bid is not for 2011 or even 2010 with a labor battle and possible lockout looming over the upcoming season). Forget the arguments against a cold weather Superbowl, football is at it’s core, a gem played in all conditions (remember the Ice Bowl?). So, the way we see it, the biggest media market housing two successful NFL franchises in the Giants and Jets has built a brand new stadium, the hosting of the Superbowl is in order.
Not much to talk about in way of free agent moves around the league, though former Giants C.C. Brown and Danny Clark have both (somewhat surprisingly) found new homes in 2010 (Brown joining the Detroit Lions and Danny Clark again suiting up for the Houston Texans). As luck would have it, both former Giants will play against big blue in 2010 (hold the jokes of how many times Eli is going to torch C.C. Brown with passes down the field). No news on big John Henderson, word has it that Henderson is looking for more money than teams will pay, I still the think Jerry Reese is interested in adding Henderson to the defensive line rotation, but only at the right price.
On a completely unrelated note, good for you Jerry Manuel and Omor Minaya, the release of Frank Catalnotto and the addition of Chris Carter to the major league roster has already paid big dividends. Yes, the Mets have issues with their starting rotation (Ollie is a mess and John Maine is who he is), but at least this team has some fight, I’ll give them that, which is more than we can say for the preceding years.
