Injury News & Updates, Thanksgiving Edition

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Alex from across the pond has some nice things he’s thankful for this morning:

"Football related:*I’m thankful for not being a fan of the Vikings, Cowboys, Bengals, 49ers or Cardinals.*I’m thankful that Eli, Ahmad and Brandon don’t work for a glassware delivery company…*I’m thankful that there are at least one of two healthy Giants players left on the rosterA few non-football related:*I’m thankful that the Knicks are almost at .500 – a miracle of biblical proportions.*I’m thankful that there’s a lot of bears in Alaska to potentially maul Sarah Palin on live TV"

As for me, I’m thankful that the Giants can still go 12-4 this season, that the defense is back on track this season and shows some backbone, that the Cowboys may lose another one today, and of course that I’m with my wonderful family in NY this Thanksgiving.

That said here is some pertinent news for today:

• The injury report looks something like this today:

RS/DB Will Blackmon (chest)
OL David Diehl (hip/hamstrong)
FB Madison Hedgecock (hamstring)
WR Hakeem Nicks (lower leg)
C Shaun O’Hara (foot)
WR Steve Smith (pectoral)
DE Justin Tuck (quad)
DE Osi Umenyiora (knee)
LB Gerris Wilkinson (hand)

• David Diehl thought he might practice yesterday but was held out. Shawn Andrews did practice but was limited.

• FB Madison Hedgecock was put on IR last night. Has hamstring issues simply took too long to overcome and Bear Pascoe has done an exceptional job filling in. And Pascoe can actually catch the ball… which is always a plus!

• WR Devin Thomas was claimed off waivers. There were a lot of high hopes for Thomas in Washington, but the former Redskin failed to impress the Shanahans enough to stick around.

• Ahmad Bradshaw has been relegated to the #2 spot in the backfield. Brandon Jacobs will start against Jacksonville but believes the switch is only temporary. What a great attitude Jacobs has developed — check out his comments:

"“Even if I go in and rush for 200 yards in each of these games, it’s temporary. He is an explosive runner and I want to see him in there myself, other than anybody else. I want to see him in and see him do well. It’s only going to be temporary. That’s what I believe in my heart, that it is that way.”"

That’s it folks – now hopefully New Orleans torches Dallas later today. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving with friends and family!
