What They Say…Week 14 Giants Power Rankings

The Giants have moved up three spots to number 7 according to National Football Post. Due mostly to their current three-win streak, they have broken through to the top 10 in all relevant rankings. Only one of their three remaining opponents, the Eagles, is ranked ahead of them, with the Redskins and Packers struggling in recent weeks.
Like everyone else, the experts are reserving judgment until after the Giants face the Eagles on Sunday.
The Giants Across the Board
Fox Sports: 7
"They got off to a slow start against the “host” Vikings, but reality hit as the game progressed. They simply were the best team coming into that game. However, now we’ll get a chance to see how they’ll respond on a short week against the NFC East division-leading Eagles."
CBS Sports: 8
"As they get healthier, they’re playing better. The defensive front will be huge this week against the Eagles. One disadvantage is they are on a short week."
NFL Mocks: 7
"After all the travel problems the Giants had they went out and took care of business against the Vikings."
And of course, there are the haters…
"They’ve looked good the last two weeks, but the Redskins and Vikings definitely aren’t the Eagles."
A few more rankings of relevant teams and my comments follow, via the National Football Post:
- Philadelphia Eagles, 9-4 (5) – The most anticipated game of the year in the NFC East looms this Sunday. The Prize: sole possession of first place in the division. A must win for both teams.
- Green Bay Packers, 8-5 (11) – Ugly loss at Detroit on Sunday, an even uglier second concussion for Aaron Rodgers, and suddenly this elite NFC team is in trouble. If New England can manhandle them the way in which we all know they are capable, this team will have no fight left in them when they face the Giants in two weeks.
- Washington Redskins, 5-8 (26) – A botched extra point that would have sent them into overtime against the Bucs pretty much sums up the season for this team.
- Dallas Cowboys, 4-9 (18) – I was truly counting on them to be playoff spoilers, but as always they could not live up to expectations. But they fought well against the Eagles, and their efforts should help the Giants in developing a strong game plan for Sunday.
