Giants’ Osi Umenyiora undergoes ‘very successful’ hip surgery

"The Giants’ defensive end underwent surgery on his hip yesterday to repair side effects from a torn labrum he suffered in 2006, according to someone informed of the procedure. The person, who requested anonymity because neither the Giants nor Umenyiora have provided an update, said the surgery was “very successful.”"

The hip injury was something Osi had been battling all year despite his incredible 2010 season.  At the beginning of training camp, there were questions whether he would even start.  In the end, Umenyiora started every single game and racked up 48 total tackles, 11.5 sacks and 10 forced fumbles in a comeback year that rivaled his 2007 performance.
