Via Rob Rang’s CBS Sports blog, here are his top draft selection choices for the Giants:

"C Mike Pouncey, FloridaOT Anthony Castonzo, Boston CollegeDT Corey Liuget, IllinoisDT Nick Fairley, AuburnRB Mark Ingram, Alabama"

Huge offensive line moves, check.  Running back, check.  But two defensive tackles?  Given Jesse’s fantastic breakdown he posted earlier I can see how releasing a depth player like Rocky Bernard would cause the Giants to look for one DT.  I assume the other selection comes in with Barry Cofield plans being up in the air.  But rookie DT Linval Joseph gave Tom Coughlin one solid entry level year, and I think he’ll be looking to dress every game next year assuming he stays healthy.  I think depth at CB needs to be addressed more than any other defensive position the Giants would like to fortify.  CWebb and TThomas can’t do it all… and the Giants love that NASCAR package of primarily their best DE’s and LB’s on passing downs which is likely to be more and more as the years click onward. So in the end, I just don’t like the heavy attention being paid to the DT position for the Giants right now.

I think it’s interesting that Mark Ingram would be a possibility.  Ingram and Bradshaw in the backfield says explosive and elusive to me, although I would hate to see Jacobs go if indeed he left the team… he was so closely tied to the identity of the team in 2007-8 when the Giants became arguably one of the top teams in the NFL.  It would be the end of an era in many ways as much as I love Bradshaw and the potential of getting faster and more dynamic out of the backfield.  Mark Ingram would certainly add to that direction, but I think a late round RB would be able to be worked into the system if it means high quality OL and CBs are available earlier.

An interesting read though, check it out here:
