Giants Re-Sign LT Will Beatty

The New York Giants continued their methodical off season today as they re-signed Will Beatty to a 5 year deal.  Beatty was scheduled to be a free agent come March 12th and the bidding war could have driven the price up drastically.  Some thought the Giants would tender or franchise tag Beatty, but they were able to come to a perfect conclusion when the two sides agreed to the extension.  As reported by Jenny Vrentas the deal is worth UP TO 38.5 million with a 12.5 million signing bonus, and 19 million guaranteed.

Will Beatty’s cap numbers: $3.55M (’13), $7.4M (’14), $8.05M (’15), $9.175M (’16), $9.325M (’17).

This is a great deal for both sides because it’s long enough to get the best that Beatty has to offer, but not too long that the Giants would be forced to release him down the line to save money.  Beatty gets a nice guaranteeand stays with the team that has trained him to be a left tackle in their system.

Nice work  by Jerry Reese.
