A position of weakness the past few seasons has been that of interior defensive line. While the Giants have waited for players like Marvin Austin to get healthy and others to develop, the league has run all over them, and the linebacking corps has suffered in the meantime. In comes former Eagle Mike Patterson to join his buddy Cullen Jenkins in the middle of the defense.
As long as his health checks out this summer, Patterson will join a deep defensive tackle rotation featuring Jenkins, Linval Joseph, Marvin Austin and Markus Kuhn. Another solid value pickup here for the Giants who have had a very quiet and very successful offseason so far.
The Pre-Season Schedule gets released today for the NFL. Stay tuned to GMenHQ for the announcement.
