With the Super Bowl taking place at MetLife Stadium this winter, the beginning of training camp marked the beginning of the “Road to MetLife Stadium”. As such, MetLife, the Giants, and yes The Jets are hosting a kickoff event to start off the week leading up to the MetLife Bowl, and the Road to MetLife Stadium. And you are all invited.
The event will take place on Monday, August 19th, from MetLife Plaza, at 1095 Avenue of the Americas – between 41st street and 42nd street, New York, NY, from 1:00-3:00 PM. The featured guests at the event will be Giants’ WR Hakeem Nicks, and Former Jets and Dolphins QB Chad Pennington, who will be handing out snow cones to fans in attendance, courtesy of Rita’s Italian Ice.
If you can make it, this will be an event for your kids as well. In addition to the aforementioned players, fans will be able to interact with Peanuts characters, members of our very own NY Jets Flight Crew, and take pictures with the coveted Snoopy Trophy, the very one provided to the winner of the MetLife bowl, taking place Saturday night, August 24th, at 7 PM.
There is more, this part is regarding the MetLife bowl itself. For those of you who weren’t aware, the Giants and Jets choose one charity per team, and MetLife makes a donation to both charities. This year, the Giants are playing for the Kaboom!, a neighborhood playground building charity, and the Jets are playing for the Trust for Public Land. MetLife will be donating $50,000 to the two charities.
Why do I mention this to all of you? Because you can increase that donation on behalf of the teams. HERE IS HOW:
It’s actually very simple. For those of you on Twitter, beginning Monday, August 19th, and up until the kickoff of the MetLife Bowl, for every tweet you send, that includes the hashtag #Road2MetLifeStadium, MetLife will donate $25 to each team’s charity, up to $12,500.
So, you can attend the kickoff event, and make a difference.
The “Road to MetLife Stadium” has begun.
