Consider this boat rocked. Confirming an earlier report by Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, the Giants have officially hired former Packers QB coach Ben McAdoo as their new offensive coordinator. While exact terms haven’t been disclosed, the deal will be two years in length. McAdoo, 36, also interviewed for the Browns head coaching vacancy last week and the Dolphins OC opening early Tuesday.

Rather than hire the generic, familiar face in Mike Sullivan, Giants brass clearly realized a change of identity was necessary. McAdoo possesses a creative mind for modern day personnel usage and strategy, something this vanilla franchise desperately needs. Having successfully developed tight ends in Green Bay between 2006 and 2011, his eye for identifying and deploying talent at the position should also come in handy. Eli Manning sorely missed a middle security blanket in 2013.

Thumbs up!
