With Jacoby Jones re-signing in Baltimore and Ted Ginn Jr. bolting for Arizona, specialized kick returner Quintin Demps was next on the G-Men wish list. Demps finished 3rd in the NFL in yards per return for Kansas City in 2013, averaging 30.1 with a 95-yard touchdown on his ledger. Giants’ kick returner Michael Cox notched 21.8 YPR — that’s a substantial 8.3 yard differential in starting field position.

Since the turn of the century, Ron Dixon and Domenik Hixon have been the only dynamic returners to wear Big Blue. And neither was a consistent presence. If Demps sustains his level, he could indirectly take pressure off Eli Manning and the offense from orchestrating 80 yard, mistake-free drives.

Demps intercepted Manning on November 1, 2009 as a safety with Philadelphia. His defensive contributions will be limited to emergency usage.
