Giants Free Agency Round-Up: Defense

Linebackers: LB Jameel McClain, LB Mark Herzlich (re-signed), LB Jon Beason (re-signed)

The linebacking corps has long been subject to criticism from analysts, being mocked numerous times as the Giants’ major need and/or first round pick in previous years and almost every offseason. This year’s approach brought some stability. Bringing back Herzlich ensures a quality leader returns who has a great impact on special teams. Beason returns to continue his meaningful leadership and provide a stable on-field presence for the defense.

McClain definitely brings the same approach to the game, with discipline and work ethic. The Giants could use maybe one more body, but they certainly addressed the position by bringing in key pieces that have contributed before, while adding talent.
