2. Jameel McClain: A standout, hungry defender with the Baltimore Ravens, Jameel is as hard working and passionate a football player as any. His work ethic is not just shown through his actions in the weight room or practice field, but in his relentless motor on the football field on gamedays. McClain brings physicality, leadership and energy that will no doubt invigorate the defense as a leader should. Remember, McClain suffered a spinal cord contusion in December of 2012 and his playing career looked all but finished. This experience, no doubt, brings inspiration and further fuels his desire to be the best he can be, setting an excellent example.

The major concern? This will be his intro season with the Giants. Fortunately for McClain, another positive in his play is versatility, as he has experience at every linebacking position via the very diverse front that Baltimore runs. However, he will need to truly grasp the defense to make the immediate impact Beason did in his small amount of time with the Giants last season. Learning from guys like Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis definitely rubbed off on McClain. But replacing the defense’s figurehead is not a guarantee at this point.
