It’s rivalry week — the New York Giants are facing the Dallas Cowboys.

Normally there would be a lot of trash talk, but the Giants just got spanked by the Eagles on prime time TV, 27-0. That doesn’t really allow too much fodder for trash talk of any sorts as it’s a touchy subject this week for team BLUE. That game was brutal.

But the brutality doesn’t end there in the NFL world. In the category of brutally absurd, the Dallas Cowboys offered up a great reason for the Giants to open their mouths again in form of their players making stereotypical “bad” choices.

This time, the player was Joseph Randle, the Cowboys 2013 5th round NFL Draft pick. According to this story by Tim MacMahon with ESPN Dallas, the headline was Randle arrested for shoplifting. Here are some details from the article:

"The arrest report states that store security officers, watching via the closed-circuit surveillance system, observed Randle purchase an item at the perfume counter before walking to the underwear section and concealing merchandise in his Dillard’s bag. He then exited the store before being stopped by security in the parking lot.The store security officers recovered from Randle a two-pack of black Polo underwear valued at $39.50 and an almost full “tester” bottle of Gucci Guilty Black cologne valued at $84.After being placed in the back of a police car, Randle told Frisco police officer Jason Kimbrough that he would have just kept walking to his car when confronted by security officer Raymond Wymer — the “old guy,” Randle called him — if he had known he would be arrested, according to the arrest report.Randle, a fifth-round pick in 2013 who is making a base salary of $495,000 this season, has rushed for 113 yards on 16 carries this season while playing behind NFL rushing leader DeMarco Murray."

You read the $495,000 line in that last sentence and it just makes your senses scream, “WHY?

  • And, there probably are no good answers… just poor decision making skills from Mr. Randle. Wow.

Now things become interesting for Giants Nation. Do fans of team BLUE ruthlessly mock the Cowboys this week for this failure? Or is it too soon from that pathetic display of football shown this past Sunday night to say much of anything?

Regardless of those answers, this young Dallas Cowboy is in trouble. No matter how silly his reasoning is, or what the reaction from Giants fans may be, one thing is for sure. This instance will lead to more headaches for Roger Goodell and his job security as NFL fans collectively ask, “All this for a little underwear?”
