2015 NFL Draft: New York Giants Potential 1st Round Selections

One good thing to take away from a 6-10 season is the 9th overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft. One would assume that the New York Giants would want to focus on defense after a horrible year defensively. Here are potential draft selections for this top ten draft pick.

Linebacker:

1.) Eric Kendricks | LB (UCLA)

2.) Shane Ray | OLB/DE (Missouri)

3.) Vic Beasley | OLB (Clemson)

4.) Benadrick McKinney | OLB (Mississippi State)

5.) Denzel Perryman | LB (Miami)

Analysis: If the Giants want a pass rusher, they can take Ray or Beasley. Kendricks and Perryman are suited to be run stuffing inside linebackers. The 9th overall selection is a bit high for Perryman for me but it would be hard to hate on the selection. McKinney is the jack of all trades in this grouping of prospects, which may make him the most intriguing.

Cornerback:

1.) Ifo-Ekpre-Olomu (Oregon): This is the only corner that I grade worthy of a top 10 pick. This is a corner with all the physical tools and who could develop into a shut down corner. He is recovering from an injury that made him miss the College Football Playoffs.

Defensive Line:

1.) Leonard Williams | DE (USC)

2.) Eddie Goldman | DT (FSU)

3.) Randy Gregory | DE (Nebraska)

Analysis: Leonard Williams has the ability to develop into a star. He can play defensive end or be a dominant 3 technique in the Giants 4-3 defense. Eddie Goldman would behoove the Giants efforts to get better at stopping the run. He is a space eater, with some pass rushing ability as a nose guard. Gregory is a great pass rusher.

Offensive Tackle:

1.) Brandon Scherrf | LT (Iowa)

Analysis: This is a very good left tackle that could go in the top 10. Scherrf would be a good fit. He is a good pass protector and a dominating run blocker.
