New York Giants Claim Asa Jackson, Louis Nix

According to reports the New York Giants have claimed former Baltimore Ravens cornerback, Asa Jackson off waivers. Jackson is a speedy 5’10” defensive back with some ball skills and good kick returning duty. I have always been a fan of Jackson’s and he has flashed serious potential the last few preseasons in Baltimore.

Jackson was suspended in 2012 for using Adderall. In 2013 he was suspended for the first eight games of the season. Jackson ended the 2014 season on injured reserve and hoped that 2015 would be his first real chance with the Ravens.

Jackson has potential to be a really good player. The Giants need help in the secondary. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Jackson win the job as the nickel corner. He is fast and feisty. He may not ever amount to anything in the NFL but I like the Giants signing a talented player.

The New York Giants also claimed Louis Nix. Nix was a defensive star at the University of Notre Dame. The 6’3″ 357 pound defensive tackle had 14 tackles for a loss and two sacks in three seasons for the Fighting Irish. A injury derailed Nix’s first round aspirations and he fell to the third round of the 2014 NFL draft.

Nix is a player that has always had talent but injuries have held him back. The Giants must believe the knee is fine because they added him to the 53 man roster. Reports say the Giants cut Kenrick Ellis and Mike Harris to make room for the two additions to the Giants roster.
