Giants Vs. 49ers: Is This A Trap Game?

facebooktwitterreddit

The New York Giants will host the spiraling San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The Giants are looking for their third straight win, the 49ers are looking to break their three game losing streak. With the Giants flying high from their 24-10 victory over the Bills, is this a trap game?

The 49ers may be struggling mightily but they still have a lot of talent. Torrey Smith, Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis are three very good receiving options for Colin Kaepernick. Carlos Hyde is one of the most impressive young rushers in the NFL. The 49ers defense isn’t what it used to be, but Navarro Bowman is still one of the best linebackers in the game. Arik Armstead is a rookie defensive lineman with a lot of potential.

The 49ers aren’t a great team though and the Giants will be expected to hand them their fourth straight loss. Kaepernick is playing erratically and is being careless with the football. They are averaging 12 points per game which is last in the NFL and they average the second to least most yards per game. Their defense is playing poorly as well.

Clearly the tight ship that Jim Harbaugh ran is being sunk by Jim Tomsula. The new 49ers coach is having as unimpressive of a first season as you’ll ever see a head coach have. The one positive thing for the 49ers is that they have the 5th best rushing game in football.

The Giants have to take the 49ers seriously regardless of their 1-3 record and horrible performances. The 49ers have talent and if their quarterback can find his groove, this team can be formidable. The Giants are feeling pretty good about themselves now that they have climbed out of the dark depths of being 0-2.

The Giants are the better team and they should win this game. That being said, few games are easy in the National Football League. This has all the makings to be a trap game, its up to the Giants to avoid falling into that.
