Over the past month or so, we’ve taken a look at the New York Giants entering free agency in 2016 and the free agents from other teams the Giants should target. We’ve also highlighted the seven positions the Giants need to spend on this offseason, so let’s put the five most “need” positions on blast and see which can be addressed via free agency.

Before we get to the list, there are a few positions that are big question marks but might be solved internally: right guard (Schwartz injuries, Bobby Hart’s progress?), tackle (Will Beatty’s cap hit, Flowers back to right?), #3 wide receiver (is Harris the answer?), and tight end (Will Tye should be enough, but what about a blocking TE?).

As things currently stand, I’m operating as if the Giants will restructure contracts for Victor Cruz, Will Beatty, Jon Beason and Geoff Schwartz. If they can’t and are forced to release them, the list shifts somewhat to focus on helping the offensive line and receiving corps.
