The New York Giants have selected former Pittsburgh Panthers offensive lineman Adam Bisnowaty in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Through five rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft, New York Giants fans were left questioning why general manager Jerry Reese hadn’t selected an offensive lineman. That wasn’t necessarily a criticism of the players he drafted, but instead an acknowledgement of the need for depth.

In the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Reese may have found a diamond in the rough by trading up to select Adam Bisnowaty at No. 200 overall.

The Giants gave up their sixth and seventh-round draft picks to select Bisnowaty, which is a testament to how highly they view him.

Bisnowaty is an offensive lineman who experienced a successful college career with the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Bisnowaty is a versatile lineman who could line up at either tackle or guard. He was twice voted to the All-ACC First Team by the conference’s coaches, and twice received All-ACC Second Team honors via the votes of the media.

Having started all 13 games at left tackle as a senior, Bisnowaty has the potential to step in and excel as the blindside protector Eli Manning needs.

In New York, Bisnowaty will have an opportunity to compete for playing time with fellow tackles Ereck Flowers, D.J. Fluker, and Bobby Hart.

New York has a pair of high-quality interior linemen in left guard Justin Pugh and center Weston Richburg. John Jerry played at a respectable level at right guard, but could bounce outside to tackle if Fluker wins the interior role in training camp.

By adding Bisnowaty to the mix, the Giants have created competition with a 6’6″ and 304-pound lineman with positional versatility, power, toughness, and four years of experience as a starter.
