New York Giants quarterback Davis Webb is taking advantage of every resource at his disposal as he learns Mike Sullivan’s offense.

The New York Giants made a polarizing decision at the 2017 NFL Draft. With the 87th overall selection in the annual selection process, the Giants made California Golden Bears quarterback Davis Webb the heir apparent to Eli Manning.

In the two months that have followed the selection, Webb has said all the right things—and now he’s putting his money where his mouth is.

Although few expect him to see the field in 2017, Webb is facing the burden of expectations. He’s backing up the greatest quarterback in franchise history, and will have his number called in the somewhat near future.

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN’s NFL Nation, Webb is committed to learning the Giants’ offense—and there isn’t a question he won’t ask.

"“I have a ton of questions. I write them out every day,” Webb said after the Giants concluded minicamp Thursday. “I have Eli [Manning] questions, Coach [Mike] Sullivan questions, Coach [Frank] Cignetti questions, Josh [Johnson] and Geno [Smith] questions. You have it all different. They’ve all been responsive. I’m just thankful and blessed to have that type of room around me. Some guys don’t have that.”"

Webb is going to great lengths to realize his potential as the heir apparent to Manning.

Giants general manager Jerry Reese made waves when he stated that he expects Webb to learn behind Manning for, “Two or three years.” That inevitably sparked intrigue as to just what Reese meant by his claim.

With Manning now 36 years of age, it stands to reason that Reese was projecting the remaining length of the two-time Super Bowl champion’s Giants career.

With just two or three seasons remaining until he steps into the spotlight, Webb is already familiarizing himself with the offense.

Two or three seasons is a significant amount of time, but Webb taking over as the full-time starter isn’t a process he can prepare for overnight. Manning is a polarizing figure, but Giants fans have remained loyal to him, primarily due to the team’s championship success.

Fortunately, Webb is displaying the same feverish work ethic that’s helped Manning rank No. 1 in Giants history in completions, passing yards, and passing touchdowns.
