The New York Football Giants continue their community outreach and overall support of the communities of Newtown and Sandy Hook, Connecticut by visiting the Newtown Youth Academy (NYA) today. The visit, which was attended by nearly 25 New York Giants football players was advertised as a clinical for the families associated with the Sandy Hook Community. ‘

Shortly after the events of 12/14/2012 the New York Giants invited family and first responders associated with Sandy Hook/Newtown to their home game. Those individuals were honored on the MetLife field along with a short meet and great with Giants players, coaches, and staff. Also, WR Victor Cruz developed a special bond with the family of Jack Pinto. Crux visited privately with the Pinto family during the season. It was widely reported that Cruz said that visiting with the family gave him great strength but also was one of his hardest days as a professional athlete.

The visit to NYA today by the Giants showed their continue dedication to the communities in the greater NY/NJ/CT area. The Giants did not go out of there way to publize the event to the media and/or profit in any way by conducting today’s event. By visiting Newtown/Sandy Hook roughly four months after that tragic day the Giants continue to demonstrate their dedication to helping Newtown/Sandy Hook heal and move forward. Good Job GIANTS.

As many of you know the voting is finally in and the Hall of Fame results are official. Coach Bill Parcells will be taking the magical ride to Canton, Ohio to get inducted while Michael Strahan will have to wait one more year at least.

Regarding his election to the Hall of Fame, Bill Parcells had this to say:

“I’m honored, I really am,” said Parcells, who was a finalist last year. “It’s just unbelievable. When you start in this business you’re not aspiring to do anything but win games and keep your job. After a while your aspirations change to try to win division and win playoff games. After that to the championship level if you can get there. When it’s all over with, like it has been for me for a few years, you obviously think about it some. I’m just very appreciative of everything.”

New York Giants President and CEO John Mara had the following to say regarding the new Hall of Famer:

I’m very happy for Bill,” “This is long overdue. He’s one of the best coaches in NFL history. He turned our franchise around. We went through a long period in the 1960’s and 70’s when we were a laughing stock. When Bill took over in 1983 he survived a very difficult first year, but then turned us into a perennial playoff contender and won two Super Bowls for us. He coached three other teams and everywhere he went, he had great success. I’m very happy that he will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.”

According to Giants.com, Bill Parcells will become the 19th player/coach who played a “significant” amount of time with the New York Giants to be elected to the Hall of Fame. The Giants rank are third among all NFL franchises with the number of players/coaches who have been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Class act Michael Strahan congratulated Coach Parcells and took to Twitter to quickly talk about his own Canton chances:

Congratulations to the 2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. Parcells, Ogden, Allen, Carter and Sapp. Enjoy the well deserved honor….Thanks for the HOF tweets. I Love you all and I hope I eventually make it in. I look at it as a delayed blessing and I have many now!

Certainly, we all hope that Michael will be joining Coach Parcells in the near future.

Last year Bill Parcells fell short of making the Hall of Fame. Many thought this was punishment from the voters for his on again and off again love affair with the NFL. Parcells retired and un-retired numerous times throughout his career in the NFL. However, he is a two-time Super Bowl winner was first man to coach four franchises into the playoffs (Giants, Patriots, Jets, Cowboys). He has an all-time record of 172 wins, 130 losses, 1 tie. He is also 11 and 8 in the Play-offs all-time. My Vote In

Michael Strahan, one of the most popular GIANTS off all time, is up for induction for the very first time.

Strahan retired from the Giants after their Super Bowl Championship in 2007 and since then has lead a successful career working for Fox Sports and recently becoming the permanent co-host of Live with Kelly and Michael. Strahan played his entire career with the New York Giants during which he recorded 1411/2 career sacks and made seven Pro Bowls. He was also NFL defensive player of the Year in 2001. To this day he remains one of the biggest Giants supporters and popular among the fans. My vote: IN

Hopefully I will be in Canton, Ohio watching the induction of two great Giants come this August.
