7. Arizona Cardinals – Eric Fisher OT/ Central Michigan – Carson Palmer was recently acquired and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Total Access that the Cardinals are unlikely to draft a quarterback at No. 7 overall. This may not be the popular thing to do from a fan perspective, but it makes a heck of a lot of sense. The QB class outside of Smith is not worthy of a selection this high and a good LT is a necessity in a rebuilding process. Bruce Arians and his imaginative play calling would love to feel confident their QB, whoever it is, will stay upright no matter what the play, and Fisher can do just that. Watch for Arizona to draft a QB in the 2nd round.

The start of the NFL season has been full of surprises, injuries, and twists in which Week 3 continued the trend. One of the biggest surprises is the NFC West division leading Arizona Cardinals, who are currently undefeated.

The Cardinals went up against the Philadelphia Eagles, who were also undefeated before yesterdays match up. For Cardinals quarterback, Kevin Kolb, this game was personal. The Eagles are Kolb’s former team, who were very high on him in seasons past. When Michael Vick came back, Kolb was pushed to the side and eventually traded to the Cardinals after Vick stole the starting job from him.

As the game rolled around, The Cardinals offense was on point as Kolb threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns. Larry Fitzgerald finally came alive this week and caught nine passes for 114 yards and a touchdown while becoming the youngest player in NFL history to reach 700 receptions.

The defense absolutely crushed Michael Vick, sacking him 5 times and causing him to fumble twice. In fact, James Sanders returned one of the fumbles for a 93 yard touchdown. The Cardinals are off to their best start since 1973.

Vick entered the game second in the NFL with 688 yards. He finished the day with 217 yards on 17-of-37 passing.

The Eagles performance was terrible all around. They turned the ball over 3 times yesterday and their solid offense was held to only two field goals in a 27-6 lose. They have a total of 12 turnovers already in this young season.

Hopefully the Eagles can look back at this game as just a bad loss against a shockingly good Cardinals team.

The Giants play 5 more games against 4 opponents. Here is a look at where they stand now.

The Green Bay Packers (11-0) bring in the number one scoring offense in the NFL. They average almost 35 points per game, and are third in passing yards per game. The Packers have played some close games on the road this year, and are ranked 30th in yards allowed and 31st in passing yards allowed. Obviously opposing teams are behind most of the time, and need to throw the ball in order to try and catch up. This game Sunday at Giants Stadium should show us if the Giants have any fight left in them after two brutal losses for the stretch run.

The Dallas Cowboys (7-4) The Cowboys play the Arizona Cardinals this week in Arizona. The Cowboys who have basically survived the last two weeks with wins over Washington in overtime, and a one point win Vs. Miami at home on Thanksgiving. The Dallas team has found a running game and this has helped Tony Romo tremendously. He still makes a few mistakes here and there, but at least there is another option available to the coaching staff. The defense continues to be inconsistent. The Giants will face the Cowboys first in Arlington on a Sunday night, and then again at Giants Stadium on New Years Day.

The Washington Redskins (4-7) The Redskins are still a very good and powerful defensive team. They unfortunately have been ravaged by injuries on the offensive side of the ball. The Redskins face the Jets this week, followed by the New England Patriots before traveling to New York to face The Giants. This team can play spoiler to both New York teams, a position you would think they would relish, but they might not have enough weapons to accomplish the feat.

The JETS (6-5) This might turn out to be the biggest game New York has seen in a long time. The offensively challenged Jets continue to be extremely inconsistent. They must travel to Washington this week, who’s defense will give them nothing to be happy about, then play Kansas City who also plays tough, stingy, defense, and then travel to Philadelphia, who after Thursday nights performance look about done.

There you have the future opponents for the New York Giants….It might be quite the ride!
