My GMEN HQ fantasy football rankings continue and this week I’ll be taking a look at defenses. The defense position is always an interesting one, as pre-season rankings never turn out the way you expect them to. Sometimes heavy hitters like the New York Jets or Pittsburgh Steelers are highly ranked and taken earlier than expected in fantasy drafts and every year there’s a fantasy team or two that disappoints.

Feb 5, 2012; Indianapolis, IN, USA; New England Patriots running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis (42) is hit by New York Giants middle linebacker Chase Blackburn (93) and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (90)during the second half of Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium.
On the flipside there are the real life defenses of NFL teams that aren’t expected to do much that end up becoming top rated fantasy football defenses at the end of the year and we have to look no further than the Houston Texans and the Cincinnati Bengals last year for such examples.

With that in mind here are my current fantasy football team defense rankings:

San Francisco 49ers

Baltimore Ravens

Pittsburgh Steelers
