The Giants signed Free Agent Safety Antrel Rolle away from the Arizona Cardinals. Antrel had impressed the Giants with his physical play and big play ability. What the Giants didn’t know was his character, and it was a rocky start. Antrel was a walking sound byte throughout his first year. He agreed to do a radio spot on WFAN with hosts Joe Beningo and Evan Roberts, now I like Joe and Evan, but they are self described Jet fans. Antrel should have known he would have to watch how he answered certain questions. Antrel never hesitated in criticizing coaches, and even some players along the way.

When Antrel was forced to play out of position at nickel corner he barked a bit. He wanted to do what he was signed for, and that was to be a run support safety. Antrel did a fabulous job, but was quick to let people know he was playing out of position and doing the best he could. Once again this year it looks like Antrel will be asked to play a little corner now and again….but his answer this time was a bit different.

“But when Merritt approached the seven-year veteran this time, he got a pleasant surprise. Rolle said “no problem, Coach” when he was told to switch positions. Then on Monday, when the Giants found out Thomas would be out a while and Merritt told Rolle the switch might be permanent, he said, “Whatever it takes.”

Now that is a Giants answer. Antrel has seen the light. Antrel now respects these coaches and sees what hard work and discipline can bring. Antrel is a champion, and now he is a Giant for life.

As we count day the days until the Giants face the Patriots in the super, GMen Hq will be profiling the battle of the two cities: New York versus Boston (Yes, I know the Patriots are “New England” but for this matter they are Boston).

Today’s battle royal will stir the debate. Today we have the battle of the better radio station! Representing the greatest city in America is WFAN-660AM the Fan! Stepping up to the mat against the Fan is WEEI 93.7/850 Sports Radio. This appears to be a bloody beat-down initially. WFAN is the ESPN of sports-talk radio. WFAN premiered on July 1, 1987 and is powered by 50,000 watts of Class A power. The fan can be heard as far west as Indiana and as far south as the outer banks of NC. The fan is considered the grand daddy of them all in terms to sports talk radio! WEEI powered by 50,000 watts at the class B level was founded as a sports talk radio in 1994. WEEI is affiliated with the ESPN radio networks. WEEI is the home to the majority of Boston sports.

So who do you listen to? Who do you prefer?

Okay time for me to rant for a little bit. For those of you lucky enough to hear, Justin Tuck joined Mike Francesa from WFAN for his weekly afternoon spot at a little after 4:30 pm EST. Click here to listen to that wonderful interview. During his spot with Tuck, Francesa brought up the twitter incident between Michael Strahan and Justin Tuck (below is how it ended between the two–seems bad doesn’t it?) :

@michaelstrahanMichael Strahan

If they only knew. Lol RT<s>@</s>JustinTuckNYG91: If you don’t know. The back n forth between me n <s>@</s>michaelstrahan is ALL LOVE. No beef whatsoever

25 Sep via UberSocial for BlackBerry

Francesa kept digging for dirt and asking those “deep” questions we all know he asks. After listening to the interview the first time it sounded like Francesa was trying to make it a big deal. After listening to it for a second and third time, it was clear: Francesa was trying to make it a big deal. He called Strahan a “jerk” who should “shut up” and that “won’t be going out to dinner” anytime soon.

I think we all know there is no love lost between Francesa and Strahan. However, when will Francesa realize that Strahan is still a GIANTS legend that is generally regard in positive terms by the fans? On the fox pre and post-game shows Strahan even announced to the national audience that he “bleeds GIANTS blue” and is “Giants homer, I played there for 15 years.”

Mike take a clue from Tuck (who wanted nothing to do with the twitter conversation) and just take the “high road.” Do you really think that GIANTS fans care about what Strahan and Tuck said on twitter (by the way they talked and are considered good friends)? Or do you think GIANTS fans care more about win and what it was like out there? Mike take a clue from your audience. However, as we know Francesa can talk about whatever he wants for six hours as it nicely detailed here. Guess adding abilities are not required to be a daytime talk host.

Do I have this all wrong? Is Francesa the voice of the fan and the GIANTS fan? I make mistakes, but I think I speak for the masses when i say I really do not care about some twitter event, I care about the game MIKE! Focus on that more! Yes, I’m bias towards Strahan (as one of my favorite GIANTS of all-time) but really Mike?? Is this what you get paid for? To ask those deep questions that have NOTHING to do with ANYTHING?

Let me know if you think I’m off base: comment here or on twitter at twitter.com/tom_brant or twitter.com/gmenhq
