Eli’s The Man(ning)

Was anyone surprised yesterday when Eli Manning orchestrated a drive down the field with what would at the time be the go-ahead touchdown against Cincinnati? And was anyone shocked when Eli completed a third down pass down the sideline to Amani Toomer to put the Giants in position to win the game in overtime?

If anyone was astounded by either of these two feats in yesterday’s game, then you haven’t been watching Eli Manning’s young career.

Sure Eli has had his ups and downs and has been criticized heavily since arriving on the scene as the Giants starting QB, but one thing has remained constant since his time with the G-Men, Eli Manning has been clutch.

It seems as though whenever the Giants need a big play, or a big drive, or a big win, Eli Manning is there to bring the Giants to victory. And since he has taken over the starting role, Eli has been the man behind many late game comebacks, detailed here by Ralph Vacchiano of the Daily News.

A couple of weeks ago I posted Eli’s career record month by month and now that his September this season is over, Eli has a career record of 9-5 (.643)  in the month. But Seattle, Cleveland, San Francisco, and Pittsburgh should be nervous as Elite Manning is 11-1 (.917) in October.
