6. Victor Cruz – WR, UMass Minutemen (2010)

Approximate Value with Giants: 34

Average AV per season: 10

This ranking might cause a lot of younger fans to question my sanity. There’s no arguing that Cruz is the most notable undrafted free agent signing of the past two decades. Vic was the saving grace of the 2011 Super Bowl winning season when it looked like Big Blue’s wide receiver position was decimated and lacking any punch. Though, he didn’t make the Pro Bowl that year, he would the next (2012).

His sophomore season in 2011 also earned him second-team All-Pro, the Pro Football Writer’s Association Most Improved Player of the Year, and the single season franchise record in receiving yards. His 99-yard touchdown catch against the Jets is tied for longest in league history.

So, how can he be only fifth when his average AV per season is the highest on our list? He’s only played less than four total seasons’ worth of games (41) despite entering his seventh season (96 possible contests). If Cruz can produce another two seasons like he did in 2011 and 2012, he’d be a contender for the top spot.
