#4 Marshall Newhouse, RT (27)

2016 Cap Hit: $1,950,000

Marshall Newhouse signed a 2 year contract with the Giants prior to the 2015 season, which included a $800,000 signing bonus, $1,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $1,500,000. In 2016, Newhouse will earn a base salary of $1,450,000 and a workout bonus of $100,000. Newhouse has a cap hit of $1,950,000 while his dead money value is $400,000.

The starting right tackle certainly received a lot of criticism in his first year as starting right tackle for Big Blue. We tend to forget that he was brought in as insurance for newly drafted Ereck Flowers, who was projected to start at right tackle before starting left tackle Will Beatty was lost for most of the year with a torn pec. Flowers very well could be moving back to the right tackle position if the G-Men draft either Notre Dame tackle Ronnie Stanley or Michigan State’s Jack Conklin with the 10th overall pick.

Prior to the 2015 season, Newhouse had earned a negative grade from Pro Football Focus and was widely considered one of the worst free agent signings through the first half of the year, yet he managed an approximate value of 8 in 14 starts by Pro Football Reference – which is equal to both starting center Weston Richburg and guard Justin Pugh. Unless, he regresses to his 2014 form, Newhouse should get re-signed.
