2. Keith Hamilton – DT, Pittsburgh Panthers (1992)

Games: 173
Approximate Value (“AV”) w/ Giants: 91
Seasons w/ Giants: 12
Average AV Per Season: 8

Drafted by the New York Giants in the 4th round (99th overall) of the 1992 NFL Draft, a handful of picks after the Phoenix Cardinals took teammate Jeff Christy, and before the Packers took Florida State running back Edgar Bennett.

Of players drafted in 1992, Hamilton was tied for second highest approximate value accumulated for the team that drafted, with Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Levon Kirkland, and three points behind Dallas Cowboys D-back Darren Woodson. Keith’s 63 career sacks placed him third among players selected in the 1992 draft behind Miami Dolphins D-end Marco Coleman and Detroit Lions D-end Robert Porcher.

Hamilton started 153 of 173 games played over his 12 year career, all of which with Big Blue. In that time, Keith collected 14 fumble recoveries while forcing eight. In addition to the aforementioned 63 sacks – which is 5th most in franchise history – he had more than 500 combined tackles. The 386 solo tackles is 8th highest among Giants while his 126 assists place him 5th. Hamilton also added four sacks in six postseason games.

Keith’s approximate value with the Giants of 91 is fourth highest among defenders.
