Drafted by the New York Giants in the 4th round (105th overall) of the 1984 NFL Draft, a few picks before the Cowboys selected Boston College linebacker and eventual teammate Steve DeOssie.

Reasons was the first player to be named three times to the Division I-AA All-America team while playing college football at Northwestern State and in 1996 he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

In eight seasons with the G-Men, Reasons started 78 of 122 games played, registering 10 interceptions, eight fumble recoveries and 3.5 sacks. Gary also had 3 interceptions, a fumble recovery and a sack in 11 postseason contests.
