The game of musical chairs continues to play out in advance of the 2017 NFL Draft.
So much has changed since the college football season ended, it is difficult to know where to begin for New York Giants fans. Back in January, analyst swore Jabrill Peppers was a top 5 selection. Right now, we cannot guarantee he will still be a first-round pick.
Ditto for Deshaun Watson.
And the draft dance continues for the running backs as well.
First, Dalvin Cook was the best running back in this class, but somewhere along the line, people began to think he’d drop out of the first round. Originally, I was convincing folks that Christian McCaffrey was worthy of the 23rd pick, then he became valued commodity. Right now, don’t bet the ranch he’s available at 23.
What about the quarterbacks?
Every draft, quarterbacks become undervalued during the process, but by draft day, they become overvalued. Some of the chatter is potential buyer’s remorse, but some of it remains a smoke screen. Chances are at least three signal callers will be taken in the first, even though I believe that number will ultimately be four. They are (in order): Mitchell Trubisky, Deshaun Watson, DeShone Kizer and Patrick Mahomes.
All of this leaves the G-Men in pretty good position to get a player who can help out right away. So let’s see what the staff at GMenHQ thinks will happen on draft day.
