Stanford’s 5-foot-10, 196-pound running back finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting after an incredible junior year. Love had no problem filling Christian McCaffrey’s shoes in the Cardinal backfield, recording 1,973 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns in his first full season as the program’s starter.

Love joined former Stanford running back Toby Gerhart as the second player in program history to win the Doak Walker Award, which is given to the nation’s top running back. Walter Football’s Charlie Campbell lists the Stanford tailback as the second best prospect at his position, while Miller and Kiper have him ranked sixth and fourth respectively.

NFL scouts are reportedly impressed with Love’s “great vision,” and view him as a potential late first-rounder, according to Campbell. The Cardinal star running back has shown toughness, battling through an ankle injury for most of the season.

While some scouts view Love as a potential first-round talent, one AFC general manager is concerned with his ability to catch passes out of the backfield, according to Miller.

"“It’s a real concern for me that he’s small and hasn’t shown he can catch the ball. Looks like a Round 3 guy if he runs like we expect him to.”"
