No. 6 – Alec Ogletree

Alec Ogletree is one three players on this list to earn All-Pro honors but not be selected to a Pro Bowl.

The Giants acquired the 26-year-old linebacker through a trade with the Los Angeles Rams this offseason. He earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2016, racking up 136 tackles, 11 passes defended, nine tackles for a loss, and two interceptions.

Despite Ogletree’s impressive 2016 campaign, he was not selected for the Pro Bowl. He is now focused on joining a long list of great Giants linebackers. He is expected to be the new quarterback of Big Blue’s defense and has quickly impressed Bettcher this offseason, via New York’s team website.

"“Alec has done an outstanding job. He’s growing into the leadership role of this defense.”"

The Giants will be looking for Ogletree to make plays in coverage and behind the line of scrimmage. His ability to do both should make him a valuable asset for Bettcher.

As the new leader of the defense, Ogletree will receive plenty of praise if New York’s dominant defense is restored. But just like a quarterback on offense, he will also shoulder plenty of blame if the team’s defensive woes continue.
