Connor Barwin & Lorenzo Carter vs. Cam Robinson

The New York Giants made the right move in resting Olivier Vernon this week, but that also means Connor Barwin and Lorenzo Carter must step up their play.

Barwin started 14 games for the Los Angeles Rams last season and is expected to get the start opposite Kareem Martin on Sunday. The 10-year veteran sat out most of the preseason with a knee injury but is ready to make his regular season debut for the New York Giants, via the team’s official website.

"“I’ve played in a lot of NFL football games. You can say my legs are a little fresh going into this week, because I had about a week and a half off of training camp, so it worked out. I did everything I had to do when I was down for those days. I feel prepared, I know what I’m supposed to do, and again, my legs are fresh going into Sunday.”"

The Giants will be counting on both Barwin and Carter to make an impact in Sunday’s game. They will look to get Jaguars second-year left tackle Cam Robinson on his heels.

The second-round pick out of Alabama started 18 games in his rookie season, including all three of Jacksonville’s playoff appearances. However, he struggled in pass protection.

The Giants already know they will have their hands full on the ground stopping Fournette, making it imperative for Barwin, Martin, and Carter to get after Blake Bortles in passing situations.
