WR1: Darius Slayton

Although most would agree Dave Gettleman’s best draft pick so far has been Daniel Jones, you could argue that’s mainly just due to how important the quarterback position is. If you’re judging a draft pick based on return on investment, Darius Slayton is Gettleman’s best selection by a mile.

Coming out of Auburn as a fifth-round draft pick, Slayton was pegged as a receiver who had all the physical tools to succeed but was said to have lacked the hands to succeed in the NFL; boy were those experts wrong.

I doubt most NY Giants fans expected Slayton to see the field much in 2019, I know I didn’t. Instead, all he did was put together one of the best seasons of any rookie wideout in the NFL. The former Tiger reeled in 48 balls for 740 yards and an astonishing 8 touchdowns.

His rapport with Daniel Jones is something that should have all NY Giants fans buzzing, as Slayton had two games where he amassed over 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns — against the Eagles and Jets no less.

Lastly, he’s the tallest of the starting bunch at 6’1, which is by no means “big” for the NFL but is perfectly within the norm for a typical boundary wideout.
