Daniel Jones delivered when it mattered most.

The NY Giants finally ended their eight-game losing streak to the NFC East foe Philadelphia Eagles. It was a total team effort with much credit to be thrown around on all three sides of the ball.

Jones went 21/28 passing for 244 yards and no touchdowns. More importantly, he didn’t turn the ball over once for the second straight week.

The Giants can only hope this positive trend continues as it’s evident that Jones minimizing his mistakes directly correlates to the team winning games.

It was refreshing to see the team close out a double-digit win and end the game on their own terms with their team captain taking the best play in football: The Winning Kneel-downs.

Let’s break down the biggest plays that led to a signature win for Daniel Jones.

Daniel Jones’ Best Throw of the Day

Situation: 2nd & 10 from the NY Giants 36-yard line, with the NY Giants up 24-17, with 4:10 remaining in the 4th Quarter.

The NY Giants were in the driver’s seat winning by one score with the ball with over four minutes left. Getting either a field goal or touchdown would be enough to put the game on ice.

After struggling in this spot much of last year and so far this year, Daniel Jones delivered in crunch time to win the game for his team. New York needed about 30 more yards to get comfortably into Graham Gano field goal territory.

Daniel threw a strike downfield, a one-on-one opportunity for his most dangerous receiver to make a play. Darius Slayton streaked up the sideline and gave Jones a chance for him to make the game’s biggest play. The ball was lofted perfectly toward the sideline, Slayton did a terrific job slowing down, turning around, and making a back-shoulder catch at the 24-yard line.

The 40-yard connection put the game on wraps for Big Blue and made their winning hopes a near-certainty after this play. From there, the team simply needed a short field goal or a touchdown to close out the hated Eagles.

Jones took it upon himself to score a rushing touchdown to put the game away until it was overturned due to an Andrew Thomas holding call. The team settled and Gano drilled the field goal to put Big Blue up double-digits for good. The team held onto its lead and never looked back.

Daniel Jones Final Week 10 Grade: A-

It’s hard to argue with 75% completion percentage, 244 yards, no glaring mistakes, and the team’s first win against Philly since 2016.

Danny Jones came to play Sunday and he played smart, sound, and efficient football for the better part of 60 minutes. It was a consistent, promising effort from Jones with hopefully more games like this to come in the future. Daniel picked up his first win against a non-Washington Football Team since his glorious debut in Week 3 of 2019 in Tampa Bay.

The NY Giants need this type of performance from their quarterback week in and week out. He only had one touchdown, and it came on the ground, but he commanded and led a good offense up and down the field all game. Wayne Gallman’s two touchdowns were much-deserved for the talented back but could have easily gone to Jones for a rushing or passing touchdown attempt.

Surely, Jones won’t be complaining as long as the offense is moving like it did today. Jones had his best game all year throwing downfield and completing several deep throws with gains of 40, 38, and 27-yard completions to his three top receivers. This type of effort will be the blueprint for success and victory for NY for the rest of 2020.

In a historically weak NFC East, the division is up for grabs and fully for the Giants takings. They arguably have been the division’s “most” impressive team which is a very delicate statement given the division’s combined 10 wins. The team with the best QB play down the stretch will likely make it to the playoffs in January.

If Daniel Jones can keep up this mistake-free performance, the NY Giants could become a fascinating team to follow after their Week 11 bye. He delivered a huge win and must continue this trend after the bye in Cincinnati.
