General Manager Dave Gettleman Press Conference Key Takeaways.

As expected, General Manager Dave Gettleman will return for a 4th year with the NY Giants. The Giants’ much embattled GM must start putting together more complete rosters to get better tangible results in the win column along with the on-field product.

  1. Dave Gettleman truly believes in a process and also sees that progress has taken place in his process. Gettleman strongly remind people to talk about the difference between the first eight games and the last eight games. With that being said, he still acknowledged “there is a lot of work to be done” and this is a can’t-miss offseason.
  2. The NY Giants are fully aware of their entirely disastrous 2018 offseason. Both from the draft and from free agency, the 2020 team got little-to-nothing from any 2018 offseason acquisitions. The team failed in many spots and has continued to still set this team back two years later in 2020. However, Gettleman recognized that the team had learned from their 2018 mistakes and they have improved since otherwise.
  3. The NY Giants are going to be cautious and curious with the 2021 NFL salary cap, Right now, nobody knows what the accurate number is for the league’s hard cap. Gettleman openly admitted they must be conscious of this as they have several big upcoming decisions with Leonard Williams, Dalvin Tomlinson, Evan Engram, Saquon Barkley, and Daniel Jones amongst several others. When asked about Daniel Jones, Gettleman and Mara both profusely supported their quarterback and cleared any doubt he will be their guy in 2021.
