Bold prediction No. 4: NY Giants Add Another Cornerback in the Draft

The Giants appear to still be in the market for more cornerbacks.

The team is truly seeming to take the new-school defensive approach of emphasizing pass coverage over a pass rush. The Giants secondary is loaded with talent, whereas their pass-rush department is largely unproven and needs more help to generate sacks and pressure.

It could be Round 1 where the Giants add a cornerback.

Both Jaycee Horn and Patrick Surtain are two of the top defensive prospects in this draft. They could even be selected as high as inside the Top-10 overall. The Cowboys right in front of the Giants have a huge hole at cornerback, so they could be a logical landing spot for either player.

The NY Giants could surprise most and nab either corner in Round One. That seems unlikely due to their heavy resources at the position now, but it can’t be ruled out. Pat Graham loves to run man coverage and needs good cornerback play in order to do so and has to trust and rely on his guys.

The more likely outcome is them taking a cornerback later on Day 2 or 3. The Giants have a knack for taking corners they felt much lower than they should have. Whether it was trading up for DeAndre Baker or taking Julian Love, Corey Ballentine, and Darnay Holmes, the team clearly likes taking corners in the middle rounds with high value and upside.

Caleb Farley could be an interesting flier to watch if he falls as expected to Day 2. There are several more intriguing names behind him that could end up as New York Giants come Friday or Saturday.
