NY Giants free-agent target No. 2: Rick Wagner

Rick Wagner had finally returned to his home state of Wisconsin when he joined the Green Bay Packers for the 2020 season. After attending UW-Madison and being drafted in the fifth round following his Badgers career, he became a mainstay with the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions before making the leap to Lambeau Field.

Unfortunately, there were no “Lambeau Leaps” during the pandemic-stricken season and a proper season playing for a packed Packers crowd never materialized for Wagner, who was let go this past February by Green Bay with the hopes of getting under the salary cap.

Fortunately for the NY Giants, though, a solid veteran who has been mostly durable throughout his eight-year career–collecting just 10 absences over that span–is now available for the same reason Morgan Moses is.

Moses may have a more competitive market, though, making Wagner a more realistic target for Big Blue. Signing him to a make-good deal is within the realm of possibility for the 31-year-old, and at worst he can provide depth at the RT spot.
