Xavier McKinney intercepts Derek Carr

It has been a relatively quiet second NFL season for Xavier McKinney, save for a two-interception outburst against the Los Angeles Rams.

McKinney had one interception through his first four games of an injury-shortened rookie season, but hasn’t found himself with the ball in his hands all that often this year.

That could change against the Raiders.

Entering Sunday, McKinney has held opponents to a 70 passer rating, and opposing wide receivers to 9.1 yards per reception, when targeted, so it will be interesting to see if the Raiders test the young safety on Sunday.

Las Vegas’ depleted wide receiving corps, and Carr’s propensity to air it out could present an opportunity for McKinney pull down his third interception of the 2021 campaign.
