NFC East’s #4 team: Washington Football Team

The Washington Football Team sits a half game behind the NY Giants and Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East standings, but have lost four straight, making them definitively the dead last team in the power rankings.

Things have gotten so bad in D.C. that this their last loss to the Denver Broncos on Halloween was a moral victory because they finally lost by less than two scores.

Their bye week last weekend bleeds right into a rematch with their 2020 postseason opponents, the Super Bowl LV Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have averaged 34.5 points per game over the past month.

Given their bottom four defensive ranking in points given up per game (28.4), WFT is probably going to see things get worse before they get better, especially since Ryan Fitzpatrick’s return status is still unknown.

By the time Fitzpatrick could return, it might behoove Washington to be losing games at that point, so perhaps we don’t see him on the field again after his lone appearance during the opening week to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Don’t be surprised if WFT ends up in this very spot in the power rankings following Week 18 of the NFL season when it’s all said and done.
