The NY Giants weren’t even competitive in a 34-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon
After a demoralizing 34-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the NY Giants move to 4-11 on the season, officially being eliminated from playoff contention.
In a game where the Giants only managed to tally 194 total yards, many NY Giants fans are calling for the jobs of multiple members of the NY Giants coaching staff, and rightfully so.
Almost no players stood out this week with their performances, making it truly difficult to watch. However, since the game sadly still occurred, I must give out some grades and an MVP for this game.
Here are grades for some NY Giants players, alongside the NY Giants MVP from Sunday’s depressing loss to the Eagles:
NY Giants QB’s Jake Fromm and Mike Glennon: F
This game was horrible to watch, mostly due to poor performances from quarterbacks Jake Fromm and Mike Glennon.
The NY Giants only managed to throw for 108 passing yards throughout the entire game, and while some blame can be put on the play calling or the offensive line, neither of these QB’s could make even the simplest of passes, especially Jake Fromm.
After a one-drive performance last week against the Cowboys in which Jake Fromm completed 6 of his 12 passes for 82 yards, many NY Giants fans wanted Fromm to start this week, and he did.
In a little over two-quarters of play, Fromm managed to complete only 6 of his 17 passes for a measly 25 yards and one interception, missing easy throws left and right.
Fromm’s only interception came at the start of the 3rd quarter with the game tied 3-3. Jake Fromm took the snap, stepped up to throw, and as he threw the pass he was hit in the facemask by Genard Avery, which greatly influenced his throw. The pass then flew right over the head of Kenny Golladay and landed right into the lap of Rodney McLeod, things got out of hand after this.

While this was not entirely Fromm’s fault, as he was hit in the facemask during his throw, which was somehow not called by the referees, it certainly did not help, as after the interception the NY Giants then went on to get outscored 31-7 for the remainder of the game.
After Fromm threw this interception backup QB Mike Glennon entered the game, throughout the rest of the game Glennon would complete 17 of his 27 passes for 93 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception.
While this was certainly not Glennon’s worst performance, is was still not that great.
Glennon’s only interception came with 10:29 remaining in the 4th quarter with the NY Giants trailing 27-3. Mike Glennon took the snap and delivered a dart to Kadarius Toney, then after Toney took a huge hit from Rodney McLeod, the pass was popped in the air and then intercepted by Alex Singleton, who then took the interception back for a TD.

Similar to Fromm’s interception, this was not necessarily Glennon’s fault, however, this killed any amount of morale the NY Giants may have had left.
The only TD throughout the entire game came from Glennon, however, when he delivered a beautiful end zone pass to Evan Engram for a garbage-time TD.
While Glennon certainly did not play his worst game as a NY Giant, Jake Fromm’s performance was putrid enough to give both of these QB’s a combined grade of F.

NY Giants defense: C
After a tremendous start from the NY Giants defense, in which they forced four consecutive punts and held the Eagles scoreless through the first quarter, they kept up their great play throughout the first half, only allowing three points.
However, after the first half, things quickly fell apart for the NY Giants defense, surrendering 31 points in the second half of the game. Keep in mind that this terrific first half is the reason the NY Giants defense did not receive a lower grade.
The NY giants did a solid job at containing the Eagles electric rushing game, not allowing single Eagles running back to surpass 50 rushing yards, this is not bad considering the Eagles rank 1st in rushing yards per game, and are tied for 2nd in rushing TD’s on the season.
After a first half in which the Eagles did not score a TD, they came out firing in the second half, scoring 17 points.
The first TD surrendered by the NY Giants defense came with 12:08 remaining in the 3rd quarter with the game tied 3-3. Coming off of the heels of a Jake Fromm interception, the Eagles had the ball at the NY Giants 21 yard line.
After a Dallas Goedert TD was called back because of a holding penalty, the Eagles ran 3 plays to get them to the NY Giants 3 yard line, Jalen Hurts then handed it off to Boston Scott, who then ran into the end zone untouched.

It is hard to find anyone on the NY Giants defense to blame on this play, as it was seemingly perfectly blocked by the Eagles.
The next TD came with 4:15 remaining in the 3rd quarter with the Eagles leading 13-3.
On 3rd and goal Jalen Hurts took the snap, faked the run, rolled out right, and delivered a beautiful pass to DeVonta Smith, who then made an insane toe-tapping catch for the TD.

On this play, Xavier McKinney was forced to pick up on Smith after he came across the line of scrimmage, by the time McKinney realized he needed to pick up on Smith, it was too late as Smith simply outran him to the sideline for the TD.
The final TD scored against the NY Giants defense occurred in the 4th quarter with 11:49 remaining with the Eagles up 20-3.
After a long 10 play drive, the Eagles were at the NY Giants 9 yard line, and after a Jordan Howard rush that went for 4 yards, the Eagles pulled something out of their bag of tricks.
Coming out of a jumbo formation that had right tackle Lane Johnson lined up at tight end, Jalen Hurts took the snap, faked the run, and delivered a pass to a wide open Lane Johnson for the TD. This seemingly ended the game for the NY Giants.

While it is nearly impossible that the NY Giants intended for this, it seems that rookie Quincy Roche was lined up over Johnson, then after Johnson ran by Roche decided to continue his pursue of Jalen Hurts, this left Johnson wide open for the TD.
This game was embarrassing for the NY Giants, however, it was nice to watch the defense play well for at least one half of the game, which as I mentioned earlier, is the only reason the defenses grade is not lower.

NY Giants offensive line: D-
This was yet another horrendous game for the NY Giants offensive line, which seems to get worse and worse each week.
Simply, the NY Giants offensive line provided almost no room for either running back to run, while also being a detriment in the passing game, allowing two sacks and five QB hits.
As usual, the only offensive lineman for the NY Giants who looked even somewhat decent was left tackle Andrew Thomas, who despite having a breakout year, did not look that great today.
Outside of Thomas, the usual lineup of Matt Skura, Billy Price, Will Hernandez, and Matt Peart, could not help the NY Giants get anything going. Opening up almost zero holes for either of the NY Giants running backs to go through.
Things really began to go downhill when new starting right tackle Matt Peart, who was not playing very well beforehand, went down with a scary leg injury, this injury ended up being a sprained knee thank goodness.
After Peart went down the NY Giants subbed in Korey Cunningham at right tackle, which at first was questionable considering they elevated Isaiah Wilson from the practice squad, but it seems the NY Giants are looking to transition Wilson to guard, as that is where he was at during pre-game warmups.
Cunningham did not play particularly well, surrendering a sack as seen here:
On this play, Cunningham gets beat off the edge badly by Josh Sweat, who then hit Jake Fromm and caused a fumble that was then recovered by Kadarius Toney.
As for the rest of the lineman, it was bas business per usual, not allowing any room for the NY Giants running backs to run.
A good example of that is on this play here:
The NY Giants ran a draw to Saquon Barkley, who immediately after being handed the ball, was hit in the backfield by Josh Sweat. The main culprit on this play was stud offensive tackle Andrew Thomas, who got beat badly on the inside and allowed sweat to make the tackle.
This poor play by the offensive line occurred throughout the entire game, being one of the biggest reasons as to why the NY Giants could not get anything going offensively.

NY Giants MVP: Lorenzo Carter
It was near impossible to find a player on the NY Giants who I believed deserved MVP rights after this week’s embarrassing loss.
However, after looking at stats and watching film, the MVP belongs to Lorenzo Carter for the second week in a row.
Lorenzo Carter finished the game with 5 combined tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass deflection,1 forced fumble, and 1 QB hit. While these numbers are not anything insane, when compared to other players on the NY Giants they are arguably the best.
Carter’s only sack of the game came pretty early on while the NY Giants defense was dominating. Coming off the right edge, Carter used immense effort to work his man, until he eventually was able to be released after Jalen Hurts took off, Carter then chased down Hurts, took him down, and caused the ball to come loose.
This play really shows off Lorenzo Carter’s effort tremendously, if he had not fought so hard he would not have come close to making this play, fantastic play for the young edge rusher.
Another great play from Lorenzo Carter was his lone pass deflection, after feeling the pressure from Elerson Smith, Jalen Hurts threw the ball to Jordan Howard on a screen pass, however, the play was not to be after Carter showed off his vertical and batted the pass down.

Carter has really made a name for himself these last 2 weeks, tallying 12 combined tackles, 3 sacks, 2 pass deflections, and 2 forced fumbles in said weeks. If Carter can continue this play for the rest of the season it is likely that he will return with a big role for the NY Giants next season.
