Ne York Giants head coach Brian Daboll seems to have a plan to get Kenny Golladay back on track, following a colossally disappointing 2021 campaign

There wasn’t a more disappointing free-agent signing across the NFL last season than Kenny Golladay’s first campaign with the New York Giants.

Golladay, inked to a four-year deal worth $72 million that includes $40 million fully guaranteed, did not catch a touchdown in his first season in a Giants uniform in 2021.

After arriving in East Rutherford, the former Detroit Lions star caught only 37 passes for 521 yards. Making matters worse, New York Giants quarterbacks had a meager 49.9 passer rating when targeting Golladay.

Enter, new New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll.

Daboll told reporters during the NFL’s annual meeting in Palm Beach, Fla. this week that he has a simple plan to help Golladay return to form in 2022.

"“He’s a big-bodied guy that makes contested catches, so he’s like all the other guys. I went back and watched the Detroit seasons and he had some good seasons, just like when I went back and watched KT at Florida.“You try to do as much work as you can on these guys before they get there to see what have they been successful at and figure out a way to use them in things they’ve excelled at. You’ve got to see them do the things that you’re going to ask them to do in the offense. There’s plays that we’re going through right now, heck, if those guys want to turn inside on this route, let’s figure it out when they get here and ask them.”"

From Daboll’s comments, it sounds as though the New York Giants are going to try to get Golladay more involved in the red-zone and use his size as an advantage over the middle of the field on contested passes.

Daboll’s receivers with the Buffalo Bills, such as Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley certainly had success in his scheme in recent years. Time will tell if Golladay can see a similar resurgance.
