Round 4, Pick No. 113: Zach Tom, OL, Wake Forest

I’m going to sound like a bit of a broken record here, but I have a game plan and I stick to it.

Zach Tom is an offensive lineman who can play multiple positions. He played left tackle the last two years at Wake Forest, but he projects best at center in the NFL and will likely be drafted as such.

Jon Feliciano is 30 and on a one-year deal, so it makes sense to add a young player who could take over at center. In the meantime, Tom provides versatile depth.

NFL.com notes his intelligence, fluid adjustments, and good lateral movement. On the other hand, he could add some muscle to his legs and become a more violent player at the point of attack.

While the former Demon Deacon isn’t a sure thing at the next level, I think he has a chance to develop and he’s just the type of player the Giants should be taking in the middle rounds as they rebuild their young depth in the trenches. I always prioritize those positions in team-building, and think that Giants need to come out of this draft having improved their offensive line and pass rush above all else.
