With the NY Giants being a relatively young team, there are plenty of potential candidates to breakout and fulfill their potential. Last season we saw this happen with 2020 first-round pick Andrew Thomas. Who, after a lackluster rookie season, burst onto the scene and became a Pro-Bowl level talent.

Despite this, the NY Giants offense played very poorly last campaign. Whether it be due to a lack of healthy players, lack of personnel to begin with, or an incompetent coach staff, the offense was unacceptably bad.

Despite this, there is still plenty of young talent on the NY Giants offense with plenty of potential. If these players can breakout this season and reach said potential, the Giants could be in for a rather successful season on the offensive end.

3. Daniel Jones

After dealing with poor coaching staffs, horrific offensive lines and injuries to both himself as well as the core around him, it seems as if things are finally lining up for Daniel Jones to breakout this season and become the franchise QB people think he can be. To say that the NY Giants front office and ownership have done Jones wrong is an understatement, with co-owner John Mara even saying this:

"You tell me what Quarterback could have thrived over these last couple of years with what we had out there on offense?"

While yes, plenty of the blame for Jones’ lack of success can be blamed on the team around him, he still has plenty of things to work on if he wants to make the next leap. For starters, he MUST learn to not stare down his receivers from time to time. This emerged as a big issue last season after Jones threw three interceptions against the Rams, with two of them being due to the fact that Jones was caught staring down his receiver.

From a statistical standpoint, you can make the argument that Jones has regressed since his rookie season. However, it doesn’t take much to look at both the team around him and his coaching staff to understand why his numbers may be so underwhelming.

With a new coaching staff, offensive line and even some new weapons coming in, everything is setting up for Jones to succeed in his make-or-break season. If he can put it all together and showcase the potential we know he has, the NY Giants may have a new franchise QB on their hands.

2. Kadarius Toney

After a somewhat lackluster rookie season (which was not his fault by ANY means), Kadarius Toney is entering his second year in the NFL and is looking to showcase what made him worthy of being drafted in the first round.

Toney, from a statistical standpoint, had somewhat of a disappointing rookie season, only catching 39 passes for 420 yards and no touchdowns. Despite this, Toney showed of his unbelievable ability to make plays in the open field and even flashed some potential to be the next superstar wide receiver for the NY Giants. The fact that Toney only had 420 yards despite his obvious talent shows how truly incompetent the former coaching staff of the NY Giants was.

However, with a new, and exciting coaching staff that features Brian Daboll and Mike Kafka, it is very likely that we see Toney utilized to the best of his abilities. If Daboll is able to come up with some plays to utilize Toney to his fullest potential, then it is very likely that we will see a new, and very exciting offense for the NY Giants. All eyes will be on Toney.

1. RB Saquon Barkley

While this is not necessarily a player who will “breakout” as we have seen what Saquon Barkley is capable of when fully healthy, this is more of a “resurgence” as Barkley has not played a full season since his rookie year. That season, he tallied 1,307 rushing yards and 11 rushing TDs alongside 91 receptions for 721 yards and 4 receiving TDs.

In similar fashion to Daniel Jones, Barkley’s potential has been held down by health, a very poor offensive line, and an incompetent coaching staff. However, it is seeming like this will finally be the year we see Barkley return to his rookie year caliber of play.

Despite the poor offensive line and coaching staffs of the past, the number one thing that has been holding Barkley back over the years has been his health. However, it seems as if Barkley has finally returned to full health and is ready to make an impact once again.

If Barkley can remain healthy for the majority of the 2022 NFL season, it is likely that we see him return to his Pro-Bowl form and potentially be one of the best RBs in the league like he was destined to be. We’ll see if No. 26 will be able to live up to the hype.
