It’s that time of the year where the grill is going to be working overtime, the coolers will be filled with tasty beverages and plenty of smack talk will be going down between friends and family. Every July 4, the BBQs across the country are a ton of fun and football fans try and stick it to one another.

This will be no exception in New York and New Jersey, as NY Giants fans will certainly be surrounded by plenty of Cowboys, Eagles and Commanders supporters. With the insults expected to be on the way following NY’s rough showing last season, we’ve got you covered with some brilliant comebacks that will be able to silence your not-so-friendly guests.

3. Kayvon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal have the future looking bright

If those pesky friends of yours are saying the G-Men are a joke, go ahead and remind them of who the No. 5 and No. 7 overall picks were this year. We’re of course talking about pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux and offensive tackle Evan Neal. Both of these guys are total studs and the future couldn’t be brighter for the two.

Starting with Thibodeaux, the former Oregon stud was born to bring back opposing quarterbacks. He’s already got Azeez Ojulari’s NY single-season rookie record in mind, as Ojulari posted eight last fall. Thibodeaux could end up demolishing that record, as his supporters think he should be able to reach the double-digit mark.

That won’t be enough for Thibodeaux, though. He recently revealed that he’s hoping to post a sack a game. If he pulls that off, finishing the season with 17, he’d go on to break the NFL’s rookie record set by former Tennessee Titans playmaker Jevon Kearse, who posted 14.5 sacks in 1999.

Should Thibodeaux also top Kearse’s number, then you can go ahead and lock him in as your Defensive Rookie of the Year. While that’s fun to think about, Thibodeaux needs to showcase his talents from the start. As for Neal, he’ll have the right tackle spot this season and he’ll be ready to open up holes for Saquon Barkley, plus protect the heck out of Daniel Jones. Yup, 2022 could be a campaign to remember for both of these guys.

2. Super Bowl wins over the Patriots in 2007 and 2011

No one – and we mean no one – has forgotten about the unreal season the Giants were able to record in 2007 and 2011, in addition to the wins in 1987 and 1991. During both of those campaigns in ’07 and ’11, virtually everyone had this team written off, with only a handful of people believing Eli Manning and Co. had any shot of winning it all.

During both seasons, the G-Men were able to shock the world going up against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. The Giants were underdogs in those respective Super Bowl contests, but they were able to pull off enough magic late in those games to eventually call themselves the champions. Both victories were magical in their own right.

What makes things better is that while they may have been more than 10 years ago, these wins really don’t feel that far away. The same can’t be said for Dallas Cowboys fans, as they haven’t been able to witness a Super Bowl showdown that means something to them since the 1995 season. While ‘America’s Team’ was a treat to watch in the 1990s, things have changed.

In present time, the Cowboys have been overhyped, and they’ve underdelivered time and time again. Last season, people all over Texas thought Dallas would finally find a way to get back to the big game. Instead, Dan Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and the rest of the playmakers choked when it mattered most and the team lost to the 49ers in the NFC Wild Card Round. That had to hurt. While Dallas may have more rings than the Giants, New York has won it all most recently – twice.

1. At least we’re not the Jets!

You’re probably going to have some folks around you who are going to be rocking Jets gear. While they might try and claim they’re the better team at MetLife Stadium…. don’t pay any attention to them. They’re probably just going through a hard time knowing that the organization continues to be a complete and total laughingstock.

It has felt like forever since the Jets were a relevant team. The team finished 4-13 last season, with quarterback Zach Wilson not living up to his first-round billing at all. Wilson was supposed to be the savior for this Jets offense, but he didn’t look promising whatsoever. Yes, it was his first season, but goodness, most of his games were tough to watch.

Sure, the Giants also went 4-13 last year and the G-Men had several contests where the fanbase turned off the television midway through the third quarter. We’re not arguing with that fact. However, the Giants have plenty of excitement surrounding the team thanks to all of the changes this offseason.

Things were highlighted by general manager Joe Schoen making his way to East Rutherford. On top of that, Brian Daboll is the new head coach, while Mike Kafka is offensive coordinator and Wink Martindale is running the defense. The new regime figures to help the Giants do a 180 this season. As for the Jets, well, it should be another forgetful campaign for Gang Green. Jets supporters don’t have any right saying a word to Giants fans about their team. They suck.
