2. The coaching staff is making the right decisions

For the first time in a long time, the Giants have assembled a potentially elite coaching staff. Head coach Brian Daboll seems to be the perfect man for the job. He has quickly helped alter the direction of the franchise, and it appears that everyone within the team fully supports him.

Daboll in turn, clearly believes that this team can defy the odds. This was on full display after their Week 5 win.

Daboll has found this success, even while leading a team that is not healthy. He has had to get creative, even at times drawing up plays on the whiteboard right before players take the field. Much of the success that Daboll and the team have found can also be attributed to the rest of the coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka appears to be a star. He has made the offense look solid, even with the injuries at both the wide receiver position and on the offensive line.

Whether it be through getting creative or just knowing the best way to utilize what they have, Kafka has been among the best play callers in the NFL so far. He has in turn made this offense look competent, which is something that couldn’t have been said last season.

When the receiving room returns to full capacity and Jones can fix his ankle, this playbook could open even more. The team has big plans on this side of the ball, they just haven’t gotten the chance to show everything off. Even so, they have still managed to find success.

On the defensive side of the ball, Martindale has helped this defense evolve. The players are routinely making big plays, and several players have taken another step on the field. Alongside the emergence of Lawrence, safety Xavier McKinney appears to be the star that everyone thought he would be. In Week 5, with the game on the line, he made several big plays. This coaching staff knows how to utilize the players that they have. That makes this team dangerous.
