Heading into Week 11, Daniel Jones and the New York Giants are 7-2 and near the top of the NFC. The Giants have defied all expectations this season. Jones and Saquon Barkley have looked like franchise pieces under first-year head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka.

Jones has thrown for 1,596 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and just two interceptions this season. On the ground, he has added 387 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 69 total carries. Now in Week 11, Jones and Co. will be expected to lead the Giants over an explosive Detroit Lions team. In order for NY to take down the Lions, they will need to slow down several players.

Here are four players the Giants can’t lose focus of in Week 11:

4. CB Jeff Okudah

The Lions drafted Jeff Okudah with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Over his first two seasons, Okudah was limited to just 10 total games. A groin injury ended his rookie season after just nine games. Then in his second season, Okudah’s campaign ended in Week 1 due to a torn Achilles.

Now in his third year, Okudah has finally become everything that the Lions hoped he would be. He has recorded 50 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble, five defended passes, one interception, and one touchdown.

In Week 10, Okudah put on his best outing of the season. He recorded two defended passes and one interception that he returned for a touchdown. Okudah has proven to be a force in the passing game and on the ground. His ability to move around the defense will lead to the Giants offense keeping their eyes on him at all times.

3. EDGE Aidan Hutchinson

The Lions added edge-rusher Aidan Hutchinson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Just nine games into his NFL career, he has already made an impact on this defense. Prior to being drafted, Hutchinson was a star at the University of Michigan. Over 36 collegiate games, he recorded 156 total tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, and 17.5 total sacks.

In recent weeks, Hutchinson has begun to fully adjust to the NFL game. He has recorded 28 total tackles, four tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hits, 5.5 total sacks, and one interception. Hutchinson has managed to give some of the game’s best offensive linemen problems this season. The Giants just so happen to have a star at left tackle in Andrew Thomas who could slow him down.

But, the Lions could also choose to send Hutchinson to the right side of the line. With Giants rookie right tackle Evan Neal still sidelined with an injury, people around the NFL will have to wait for a matchup of two of 2022’s top picks.

2. RBs D’Andre Swift & Jamaal Williams

The Lions running back duo of D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams has been dominant at times this season. The Giants defensive front, while elite at times, will be tasked with slowing them down and that won’t be easy.

With Swift dealing with injuries this season, Williams has looked like the lead back at times. He has appeared in all nine games in 2022, recording 142 total rushing attempts. This has led to 604 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

When healthy, Swift has made an impact on this offense. On just 40 total carries, he has rushed for 253 yards and two touchdowns. His average yards per carry is 6.3 yards.

Through the air, Swift has played a much bigger role than Williams. Swift has been targeted 24 times, resulting in 17 receptions for 150 yards and two touchdowns. He is averaging 8.8 yards per reception. Williams has been targeted just 12 times, recording nine receptions for 57 receiving yards.

The Giants interior duo of Dexter Lawrence and Leonard Williams has been elite this season. They have managed to limit even the best running backs when they are on the field together, but injuries have limited this group. We’ll see how things go on Sunday.

1. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown

Second-year wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has entered elite territory this season. The former USC pass-catcher has been among the league’s most explosive wide receivers, and he has shown no signs of slowing down.

In eight games, St. Brown has recorded 49 receptions for 518 receiving yards and three touchdowns. On the ground, he has added 70 rushing yards on just three carries.

St. Brown has had two games this season of more than 110 receiving yards, including a Week 2 outing where he finished with 184 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. St. Brown is coming off one of his best games of the fall in Week 10. Against the Chicago Bears, he recorded 10 receptions for 119 receiving yards.

The Giants secondary, without safety Xavier McKinney, will need to slow down arguably the Lions most explosive player. Adoree’ Jackson has played some of the best football of his career this season, but the Lions have a playbook that moves their players around the field early and often.

Jackson may not always be lined up against St. Brown. This will mean that the rest of the Giants secondary will need to do their part. If they can keep St. Brown from having a big day, it could make things easier for the Giants on both sides of the ball.
