The ATV ride turned into a nightmare? That’s surely what it feels like for star NY Giants safety Xavier McKinney, who suffered his serious hand injury in Mexico during the team’s BYE week. After that embarrassing incident, McKinney has been rehabbing to try and get back on the field and no one can argue that the defense is desperate to get him back.

Luckily for McKinney and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale, it looks like he is inching closer and closer to a return. However, while the talented defensive back is making progress in his recovery, he still isn’t expected to suit up for the big-time NFC East showdown vs. the Eagles on Sunday.

NY Giants safety Xavier McKinney could potentially be back Week 15 vs. Washington

The good news here is that McKinney indeed is taking positive steps with his injury. The bad news, though, is that it’s doubtful he’ll be able to suit up to take on the Eagles and their explosive offense. McKinney has been missed in recent weeks, especially against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

With Adoree’ Jackson also dealing with his knee injury – suffered during a punt return – the secondary for the Giants has been missing two of its best players. That’s a recipe for disaster against strong teams, and with Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith headed to MetLife Stadium this weekend, people are worried.

With McKinney unable to play for the Giants, the team has gone 1-2-1 without him. After starting the year 6-1, the G-Men are now 7-4-1. Brian Daboll’s men have hit a rough patch and all of the injuries that have piled up have no question had a negative impact on this team.

McKinney is needed back as soon as possible. It sucks he’s not expected to play against Philly, but the Sunday Night Football matchup against Washington would be a great time to get the playmaker back.
