The New York Giants travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings during Wild Card Weekend, a rematch from their Week 16 thriller that saw the Vikings win in the final seconds on a 61-yard Greg Joseph field goal.

The game was a high-scoring, competitive matchup that finished 27-24 in favor of Minnesota. Can we take away performances from that matchup and use it to make winning bets in the player prop market?

Here are three props I’m eyeing for this Wild Card weekend showdown:

Best Prop Bets for Giants vs. Vikings

  • Saquon Barkley OVER 73.5 Rushing Yards
  • Isaiah Hodgins OVER 43.5 Receiving Yards
  • Kirk Cousins OVER 37.5 Pass Attempts

Saquon Barkley OVER 73.5 Rushing Yards

Barkley dominated against Minnesota in Week 16, combining for 133 all purpose yards and 84 on the ground with only 14 touches.

The Vikings are an offensive minded group that has been in close games all season due in large part to their poor defense that is below league average in terms of EPA/Play. I expect the Giants to opt towards a conservative game plan and keep this one on the ground in hopes of avoiding a shootout with the NFC North champs, which would mean a ton of volume for Barkley.

With a handful of handoffs, expect Big Blue to stay ahead of schedule on the legs of their star running back.

Isaiah Hodgins OVER 43.5 Receiving Yards

Hodgins was acquired midseason by the Giants and has quickly emerged as Daniel Jones’ favorite target, posting receiving yards totals of more than 30 yards in all but one game. In his last five games he has four receptions or more, too.

This is a Vikings secondary that has been suspect all season, and while I question how much the Giants will open up the playbook for Jones, opting to keep control of the ball, Hodgins has become his No. 1 option in the passing game. In a game with the highest total of Wild Card weekend, I’ll bank on average production from Hodgins.

Kirk Cousins OVER 37.5 Pass Attempts

This is average production for Cousins, who has gone over this total in nine of 17 full starts this season (he exited the Vikings’ Week 18 game after the first half), so should we expect the Vikings offense to try and attack through the air or on the ground?

I wager that Cousins and the Vikings offense opt to pass often. Looking at the first matchup, Cousins passed the ball 48 times as the Vikings struggled to get the ground game going against a feared Giants defensive line.

Instead of rushing, expect the Vikings to do what got them here, pass the ball a ton and get the ball in Justin Jefferson’s hands. Whether Minnesota is ahead or behind, Cousins will be throwing the ball a ton, and I think this is the best way to play it.
